One of my favorite books is “Lightning” by Dean Koontz. I enjoy suspenseful books and this one really kept my attention and had a great twist at the end.

Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flag. I like it because even though my life is very different, I can relate to the main character’s life. It makes me feel less lonely.

One of my favorites of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I read it when I was very young but was still able to grasp the importance of the story that was being told. It is a fantastic book and I love Atticus Finch!

My favorite book is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. I love this book because it reminds me that I am in control of my own life and the only person who can make me happy is myself! I need to become more aware and practice staying in the present moment!

57 DG April 14, 2009 at 10:21 pm

My favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. I love it because it’s so stark and painfully honest. It’s such a realistic and pure take on little moments and there’s no book out there like it for me.

58 Sara April 14, 2009 at 11:55 pm

My favorite book is sense and sensibility by Jane Austen. I have loved it since I was a young girl and enjoy reading it as an adult. It is timeless and a treasure each time I read it.

59 Barbara Leatham April 15, 2009 at 12:37 am

My favorite current book is Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer. The entire twilight series was wonderful, but that book was my favorite. It’s nice to be able to imagine yourself back as a teenager in love!! Thanks

My favorite is The Dark Tower: The Gunslinger by Stephen King. I love the whole Dark Tower series, it really pulled me in. I picked the first book of the series just because it focuses a lot on the main character Roland. Thanks so much for the great giveaway and the chance to win! janeener at gmail dot com

I have so many favorite books! I have two *series* that I read over and over again and I couldn’t decide between them so I’ll give you both. The first is the Love Comes Softly series by Janette Oke and the second is the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis! I love the Narnia series because it’s the perfect mix of allegory and imagined world and I love Janette’s series because…well…I’m not sure why, I just love the story. :)

My favorite book of all times is Gone With the Wind. I love the era the book takes place in, I love that the perserverance of Scarlett. Her strength as a woman to overcome major obstacles and not let anything stop her. I love Rhett for realizing what a great woman Scarlett really is and wanting to take care of her. Oh it is just a great book.
Margaret Mitchell did a wonderful job.
I would love the Kindle 2.. Thanks so much for the chance.

I don’t have a favorite book of all time, but right now I’m really telling everyone I know to read World War Z by Max Brooks. I love it because it’s not just zombies, it’s zombies plus anthropology. :)

My most recent favorite book is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I lost myself in this unique novel that grabbed me in the first chapter and kept me submerged in it for over 600 pages as the reign of Vlad the Impaler(Dracula)is revealed and tracked over several centuries throughout Europe. Many twists, surprising characters and the detailed historical information about ancient Europe kept me guessing until the end. Just how is Vlad tied into the modern world? I loved this book!

71 Holly Henderson April 19, 2009 at 6:53 am

My favorite of all time is “The Time Traveler’s Wife” by Audrey Niffenegger. It is a most amazing love story.

72 Linda J. April 19, 2009 at 9:31 am

I’m going to go with the semi-forgotten classic Enchanted April, by Elizabeth Von Arnim. It’s been on my mind lately because they’re finally releasing the equally delightful movie on dvd in May. I love the book because it’s funny, heartwarming, and wise, all at the same time.

73 Liz C April 19, 2009 at 11:17 am

I am an avid reader and own 1,000′s of books, so it is very hard to chose just one. One book I reread several times a year is Christine Feehan’s Dark Prince its the beginning of her Carpathian series and an introduction to characters that will feature in later books. I love it, it has romance good versus evil and everything in between.

74 Tarasview April 19, 2009 at 12:12 pm

I think my favourite book of all time is The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Why? Because it is hilarious. It is bizarre and I really can’t stop laughing when I read it.

I also really love the Harry Potter series by Jk Rowlings. Why? Because they are fun to read- they draw you completely into another world :)

75 Judy April 19, 2009 at 4:40 pm

I have a lot of favorites, it’s hard to pick one. My current fav is The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski. It speaks to the dog lover in me.

76 Regina D April 19, 2009 at 5:18 pm

my fav is Steven King, the Stand, or the Gunslinger, all of them. why? all of his books take me away to a wonderful and scary place, that i am always glad to come home from and visit again.

77 Aura April 19, 2009 at 10:53 pm

I really enjoyed The Middle Place by Kelly Corrigan. It’s an easy read that kept my interest and isn’t too long. I like honest heartfelt books about people’s own experiences and after surviving sickness in our family I could really relate.

78 Barbara Baker April 20, 2009 at 7:38 am

I am and have always been a poetry type of person so “Where the Sidewalk ends” by Shel Silverstein is one of many poetry books I’ll read. Besides that, my kids love it when I read these to them.
I’m not much for sitting for weeks on end to get to the end of a book, so if I have a book of thoughts for the day or poetry…I feel like I get more reading done :)

79 Annette Doggett April 20, 2009 at 10:37 am

I really enjoy all of the John Grisham books. I don’t think that I really have a favorite, but I especially liked his most recent book, “The Associate”. I always am excited to hear about a new book by John Grisham.

I have a lot of favorites. Here is one: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Why I like it: It is exciting, dangerous, and leaves you wanting more. Catching Fire is the next in the series. I can’t wait for it.

81 MonieG April 20, 2009 at 4:55 pm

My favorite book right now is the Spellman Files by Lisa Lutz. It’s about a family of private investigators told by the older daughter. Her parents investigate all her dates and run them off and her sister disappears. It’s laugh out loud funny and the writing is great.

82 Selby April 20, 2009 at 6:07 pm

My favorite book would probably have to be Harry Potter, book one by J.K. Rowling, because it was just a wonderful start to an amazing series of something that I’ve enjoyed reading/watching since a kid, magic.

83 Wendy Wallach April 21, 2009 at 6:26 pm

My favorite book is ” The Red Tent” by Anita Diamant. It tells the biblical story of Dinah, the one woman in the bible who is never given a voice, despite a powerful story. Although fiction, it is a compelling, sorrowful read.

I was entry #40, but I didn’t specify a single book and author, so here it goes…I’m going with my current favorite. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I am completely transported by reading her books. I love escaping reality and getting lost in the Scottish Highlands!

My favorite book is “Native Son” by Richard Wright. The book takes on racial inequality head on and issues that still somewhat exist today.

86 Tina April 22, 2009 at 8:35 pm

Definitely the Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. I read it in fifth grade and all my notions about good and evil flew out the window. There’s no defined line as you can tell by the hypocritical characters in the book.

87 Beth April 23, 2009 at 12:35 am

I have enjoyed reading Mao Zedong and China’s Revolutions: A Brief History with Documents written by Timothy Cheek. I enjoy reading 20th-century China writings. It’s a very compelling and deepened philosophy of this time period.

88 Mika April 23, 2009 at 2:58 pm

Like many other commenters, it’s difficult to pick a single favorite – but I’m going to say The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. I love the idea that our actions are reflected in our appearances (or, in Dorian’s case, in his portrait). The book is a great look at the consequences we must eventually face, for every choice we make.

89 Romgi April 23, 2009 at 8:36 pm

My favorite book is Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. I always enjoyed the movie as a young boy, and when I finally was old enough to appreciate the book I was surprised at the philosophical nature of the story.

90 Joi April 24, 2009 at 2:06 am

Lately my favorite book has been Me Talk Pretty One day by David Sedaris. Whenever i read that book (or really any of his essays) I am reminded of 2 things..
1. Laughter is key.
2. No, it isn’t just my family.

91 Kara April 27, 2009 at 12:42 pm

My favorite book is To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf, although I also love A Room With a View by EM Forster. To the Lighthouse has some of the most beautiful metaphoric writing that I have ever encountered. There is a building of images on top of images that seems like dreams and thoughts and memories. There is also an undercurrent of bleakness that enhances the beauty and makes it almost impossible to read. I wish I could live the philosophy of Mr. Emerson in A Room with a View, which exemplifies a simple and thoughtful understanding of others.

92 Christy April 27, 2009 at 2:42 pm

Good in Bed by Jennifer Weiner. It’s light, fun, sentimental and empowering. Thanks!

93 Carol W. April 27, 2009 at 3:32 pm

My all-time favorite book is Charlotte’s Web by E.B.White. I love the interaction of the animals and their unique personalities. It’s a story of friendship, and it evokes pleasant memories.

94 Lachelle Bodine April 27, 2009 at 5:18 pm

My favorite book right now is These Is My Words by Nancy Turner. I thought the incorrect grammar of the title would make the book strange but I loved the story line!

95 Cathy McCaughan April 27, 2009 at 5:47 pm

As a high schooler, I fell in love with Oscar Wilde’s Picture of Dorian Gray. I carefully underlined all of the quotes about art. I highlighted the quotes which captured my youthful ego. I turned down page corners and carried that book with me all through college, until it finally fell apart from too much love.

96 melissa April 27, 2009 at 8:03 pm

Currently it is Animal, vegetable, miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. I am trying to learn to live by buying more local goods and it is a very interesting story of their journey!

97 Mike April 27, 2009 at 8:52 pm

My favorite book is “Hyperion” by Dan Simmons. I think it’s my favorite because it’s the first science fiction book that I read as a young dude that showed me a far deeper piece of humanism than any other book I’d ever read.

98 Native_Momma April 28, 2009 at 1:12 am

ONCE UPON A WINTER’S NIGHT by Dennis L. McKiernan is my favorite book of all time. I just disappear into another world. It is a like a Disney Fairy tale, but the “princess” is strong and saves the “prince”. Girl power

99 brandy w April 28, 2009 at 5:59 am
