$$$$ Holiday Extravaganza Contest $$$$

by admin on November 18, 2008 in Contests

To celebrate Kidazy.com’s official second holiday season and to celebrate the incredible growth of our community since last Christmas I have decided to offer a Holiday Extravaganza contest like nothing I have ever run before! The prize? A $500 E-mailed gift certificate to Amazon.com! Don’t worry the E-mailed gift certificates are almost immediately received and Amazon offers holiday shipping that is guaranteed to get to you by Christmas! All you have to do to have a chance at winning is to leave a comment on this post between now and December 13th telling me what you would buy with your $500 Amazon gift certificate if you won! One winner will be drawn at random on December 14th!

EDIT: Because of the sheer amount of entries to this contest and the so many heartbreaking stories I have read, I have decided to add an extra something to the pot. For the duration of this contest my top advertising spaces (see the top right column) are selling for $5 per day per spot, all revenue generated from these spots will be donated to another winner (drawn at random) in hopes of bringing another family a holiday season that they deserve. This one is entirely up to you guys to generate a large enough pot to give a family a Holiday season and as long as you comment on this post you are entered in to the running as well, so why not give $5 for a chance at winning the whole pot?

probably toys for the boy

302 Marcia December 11, 2008 at 5:39 am

I’d probably buy my daughter some new clothes and books. Then I’d buy myself a work appropriate coat. After that, if my parents are moved out of my house very soon, I would buy them some things to help out. Right now, I’m supporting them mostly and it’s really stressful. Thanks for the opportunity!

What a very generous giveaway! If I won I would put it toward a new tv for my husband. He works so hard (between his regular job and college), and he is so deserving of a new tv. Our old one is going to die at any moment – it’s orange and fuzzy.

304 mary mcmurray December 11, 2008 at 10:53 am

I would use the gift card towards a new computer because mine is ready to die.

305 Annie G December 11, 2008 at 12:10 pm

I would love to get my kids the Playstation 3. They would love that! Then, I would get my mom a gift box from Hickory Farms and I would get my sister a pair of simple gold hoop earrings. Thanks for the giveaway!

309 brian December 11, 2008 at 10:15 pm

Well, one thing I’ve been wanting is a Macbook, so I guess I could put it towards that, or $500 might be enough to buy an iPhone.

310 TRACY HEYER December 11, 2008 at 10:38 pm

311 Carolyn D. December 11, 2008 at 11:03 pm

313 Susan D. December 12, 2008 at 11:41 am

$500 that is such a very generous amount. I would love many things and my children too but the thing that brings all of us the most lasting joy is giving to others~we have friends who lost everything when fires ragged though our city last month. We have friends and family that are just having hard times. We could share this $500 among many. To see the smiles on their faces would be such a gift.

314 Kathy Conley December 12, 2008 at 12:25 pm

I would buy a portable dishwasher.

316 Alicia Webster December 12, 2008 at 4:14 pm

I have three kids under the age of three, so I would use it for diapers, formula, wipes, and butt cream. And some granola bars for the kids too.

If I won I would use the money to buy items on my children and grandchildrens Christmas list. My daughter turns 17 on 1/2/08 so I would give her a gift she has been wanting.
I would also buy a family gift that we could all share.
Also I would buy restuarant gift cards to give to my older children and their families who all live 1200 miles away, that way I know that they can enjoy a night out.

Thank you….

Happy Holidays….

I would buy a printer because I do not have one and gifts for my students.

320 Lori December 12, 2008 at 9:35 pm

I would buy a blue wool area rug.

321 Jean D. December 13, 2008 at 12:40 am

My daughter is in college. $500 from Amazon would buy her textbooks for spring semester. And with Amazon’s great prices, perhaps we could spring for some FUN stuff, too.

Yay for a wonderful giveaway!

322 Carolyn G December 13, 2008 at 1:03 am

I am not sure what I would use it for. I am thinking I need a new computer but on the other hand $500 would buy a lot of groceries and more practical stuff. I think I might err toward being practical and buying the necessary items and maybe a book or two.

323 Lindsay December 13, 2008 at 1:06 am

Well the majority of the GC I’d send on my son, he’s such a good little boy and I want to make this Christmas great. My husband is deploying on the 1st of Jan. so I’d spend the rest on him. The military just doesn’t supply everything they need, which is so sad

324 Michelle December 13, 2008 at 1:12 am

Hubby and I decided not to exchange this year and just buy for the kids. I know he’s been eyeing up a new digital camera to replace the ancient 4 megapixel camera we now own. I’d use the gift certificate to buy him a really nice Canon digital camera and I’d love a digital photo frame to go with it.

325 Jessica P December 13, 2008 at 1:31 am

I would give much of it to my mom so she could afford to do some really fun shopping, and I would probably finish a bot of my Christmas shopping.

326 zoz December 13, 2008 at 1:38 am

Thanks for the contest! Amazon is my favorite place to shop! I’d buy presents for my family first, and then a few gourmet goodies for me. With what’s left over, I’d stock up on groceries!

327 Linda A December 13, 2008 at 2:07 am

I’d love to buy a new set of Calphalon pots and pans, my current set is from 1994!

328 erin December 13, 2008 at 2:46 am

Like all the practical moms before me I’d spend it on family gifts, things we need around the house (new highchair), new socks and underwear :) Plus some fun stuff in the form of craft supplies and a book or two!

329 Kristen Hendricks December 13, 2008 at 2:59 am

If I am lucky enough to win, I would use the $500 Amazon gift certificate to purchase a laptop so my other family members would not have to buy one for me. It would really come in handy since money is tight for my family right now and if I could purchase a new laptop myself it would really help stretch the money that we have. This is a great giveaway. Thanks.

330 Sherri Thomas December 13, 2008 at 6:06 am

I would get an all-in-one scanner and a new monitor. And then off to the cookbook aisle…oh my, that would be SO much fun!

331 Wanda December 13, 2008 at 7:12 am

I would put it towards a new computer, I am on a 450 mghz..yikes..lol.
A great giveaway, thanks for the opportunity.

332 Ashley Domes December 13, 2008 at 7:53 am

I would get everything and more, but mainly some new clothes for my kids.

333 getpalmd December 13, 2008 at 8:13 am

I’d buy christmas presents for sure. Something special for my family and boyfriend, not to forget the dog, she’s important too. I would not need the whole 500, it’s a lot, so would be nice to share the prize if I won and continue with another giveaway in my blog :-)

334 Caryn B December 13, 2008 at 9:12 am

We desperately need a bed/mattress so we would definitely use the gift card for that….

Thank you for being so generous!

335 cathleen n. December 13, 2008 at 11:16 am

Being a woefully malnourished bookworm, with this prize I would use Amazon for its original purpose- books! Pretty much everyone in my circle also reads, and I would spread the wealth by buying titles they’d like too. And I’m not talking about mass-paperbacks we can borrow from the library, and that accumulate so quickly once purchased. Instead I’d buy more of the rarities- along the lines of art and photography or signed editions- to hopefully someday be passed down in the family. Short of posting my Amazon wishlist, I’ll keep it at this for brevity’s sake :) Thanks for the entry and happy holidays to all!

336 Erin H. December 13, 2008 at 11:39 am

I might choose a grain mill and some canning supplies. Thanks so much for the giveaway!

337 Sandra December 13, 2008 at 11:40 am

Ok, it is probably not exciting to most people but I would buy groceries. My son is allergic to dairy and gluten. It is hard to find products at our grocery stores. Amazon has a great selection. Plus I could buy him some different items and not feel bad if he decided that he didn’t like one of them. The gluten free dairy free foods are really expensive. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

338 Tammi December 13, 2008 at 12:07 pm

I can think of about a thousand ways I would like to spend this already. More pots and pans? A few more dishes? Attachments for my much loved mixer? A kindle reader for my husband? (It would be quite a novelty to buy him a Christmas present he didn’t pay for) Christmas presents all around! A lighted makeup mirror for my daughter, which I will borrow daily.

Books for the three college kids next semester sounds like a solid bet. Thank goodness the younger ones don’t have to pay for textbooks, too.

Something lovely for my mother would be nice. Amazon is so fun, especially if people share wishlists.

Lovely contest, I hope you have fun running it.

339 Holly December 13, 2008 at 12:34 pm

I think perhaps a new TV of some sort or maybe a BBQ. We just moved and do not have a BBQ and our DLP tv goes through $250 lamps every other year and the time is coming again!

340 Tracey P December 13, 2008 at 12:45 pm

I would buy Rock Band 2 for Wii for our whole family to enjoy, as well as some other wii games to play. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

341 Zoey December 13, 2008 at 1:42 pm

I really need a laptop! I would use the $500.00 towards getting me one.

342 Heather C December 13, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Welllllll, I would probably splurge on exercise equipment and a portable ice maker.

343 Gina December 13, 2008 at 2:20 pm

What would I buy? Hmmmmm I’d probably get my kids and husband and family members all some GREAT xmas gifts that I couldn’t normally afford..

Thanks!

344 Jomama on a Llama December 13, 2008 at 2:50 pm

It’s hard to decide what I’d purchase with this. There are too many things I need and things that I simply want. I could use a new faucet for the kitchen right now though. 8)

349 Peggy Gorman December 13, 2008 at 5:53 pm
