I have been craving both a new receiver for my stereo (I’m old-fashioned) and a new digital camera. Those add up to about $400, so with the remaining money I would get some toys and books for my son who’s about to turn a year old, things that are developmentally appropriate for the next year of his life and we’d parcel them out slowly.
Oh my god!! What? $500?? Cool! OK I have to think about this. Well, we were planning on buying books for all of the nieces and nephews this year with a budget of $20 a piece, so with 12 of them, that would be $240. The rest…hmmm. Well I think it might go toward household necessities since we’re on a “credit diet.” My fantasy would be to get the Kindle for myself though!

I think if I won the gift certificate, I’d earmark part of it for a few family gifts as this year hasn’t been too good on the economic side.
I think I’d treat myself with spending a portion of it on a new digital camera for me. My 4 year old camera is broken, and I’ve just started scrapbooking, so it would be lovely to start taking pictures worth saving to add to the pages so that our family has a good record of life! Fuzzy pictures and not great for memory keeping…

What wouldn’t I buy? I’d get some books for the kids, some clothes for them and some maternity clothes for me and I’d let dh get a few books and games. Ohhhh and some soft-soled shoes for the baby. The baby won’t have much in the way of foot coverings. I’d probably use the rest to get gifts for friends/family. We have a large family, so gifts can cost a fortune.
I would love to say that I would buy the Kindle Wireless reading device for myself. (Because I WANT, no NEED it!) but I would probably blow the whole thing on toys for my kids, like the Star Wars Interactive R2-D2. My boys would FLIP over that!

Oh my gosh what a wonderful contest and a blessing for so many families this year! It’s been a rough year for us financially, so I would spend all of the money on my four kids and my husband as well as a gift for my mom. I’d buy my two sons a train set and some books of Thomas the Tank and i’d buy my girls a new doll each maybe with an outfit to change them in to. I’d buy my husband some new tools for work and my mom a new purse or a sweater that i’ve been eyeing.
I’d go all out for the holiday gifts for the kids. Dress-up from Melissa and Doug, tons of books, some board games, the WORKS!!
The adults are doing no gifts, but I might slip in a little something for just us, too!
I’d buy the box set of Anne of Green Gables, as well as tons of books I have in my wishlist for the kids. My wish list at Amazon is always about a mile long!

First I would pamper myself with a pair of black ankle boots, those are really on my list, and my favorites priced so high that I probably would not buy them unless I had a lot of money, and a $500 gift certificate is really a lot of money.

There are a bunch of recent novels that came out that I would love to try, like “Brick Road”, and some memoirs, like “Reading Lolita in Tehran”. I would like to get some books for my nieces and nephews, like “Mickey in the Night Kitchen” and “Goodnight Moon”. I would get the series “Firefly” on DVD, and the movie that goes with it, “Serenity”. And then I would get myself a new messenger bag, a pair of boots, and a box or two of fruit leather. Phew!

If I won the $500 it would be hard to decide. Christmas was going to be tight this year, as several in the past. My daughter and her family has just recently lost her home and is struggling to make ends meet. I think if I won, I’d hand this over to her. My twin baby girls are still chewing books but they say “chewing is reading” at 15 months. I also want to buy some American Sign Language books so we can sign with our babies. My husband had been out of work for two months and were just getting back on our feet. He makes very little money working anyways and didn’t get any money for being out of work all those days due to health reasons. So Christmas is going to be tight and would love to get my two kids stuff for Christmas. As for what I would get for them maybe board games since we don’t really have any. Maybe the spa set for my daughter and a doctors play set for my son.
I know this sounds like a sob story but it’s the truth: We are currently going into more debt each month because my husband’s job just isn’t good enough. One of his co-workers, and our family friend, is having an even harder time because he has 4 kids (we have 2.) Holy moses, I don’t know where to begin. My brother and soon to be SIL want LIVE LAUGH LOVE Decor, so I am sure I can find that on amazon. My other bro won’t tell me what he wants, but he loves sports, so i would find him something special. with $500 I could afford to get my nieces and nephews something, so maybe a couple shared video games for the Vtechs? Or their Wii? My mom has had a rough year so maybe some Nice books. My step has too, so but he so hard to buy for, I would need mom’s help. My dad deserves some new fishing LURES! hehe! and I have already gotten my step mom’s. If there is some left overs I would get me some new shoes and a shirt. What would I buy if I was blessed with this gift card? Well, we are forgoing Christmas this year due to lack of funds therefore…I would definitely buy some presents for my family. Best of all is that Amazon prices are always cheaper so the money would go further. On top of a few presents I would definitely try to get a few things we really need and don’t have the money for. My sister needs a coat and hat, my husband needs some shoes and gloves and I would love a few new or used books. I could also get my daughter some much needed school clothes and maybe a computer game too. Oh and we really need an electric screwdriver, like NEED one. Wow…that made me stressed. Oh my goodness… I would get a Nikon camera. I would use the whole thing on the best quality Nikon I could get. My girls are 18 months and it would be wonderful to capture those fleeting moments with a great camera. Very nice giveaway!!
We’d probably buy some great gifts for our twin girls and enjoy our first ‘real’ Chritmas with them. We recently found out that another baby is on the way and my husband is out of a job, so, we are being really frugal this holiday season. This would be great to be able to splurge a little.

Oh, my! What a difficult decision to make! As much as I’d love a Nikon D60 camera (which could use the lenses from my old film camera), I think I’d have to go with some practical choices for items for the house such as a stand mixer that is simply out of my budget otherwise. I’d definitely buy stuff for the family for Christmas. My parents are having a hard time of things too! I guess everyone’s feeling the economic crunch, huh? I’d probably use the bulk of it to help them out since you can get ANYTHING at Amazon! We usually do most of our Christmas shopping there, and have for about 3 or 4 years at least.
I would buy the Fisher Price Loving Family Grand Dollhouse for my 2 year old daughter, and the Lego Star Wars V19 Torrent and Millenium Falcon for my 7 year old son for Christmas. My mother-in-law was just diagnosed with dementia and the early stages of Alzheimer’s… a terrible thing on it’s own, but made even worse by the fact that she takes care of our children during the day. We’ll have to put them in daycare now which means an extra $1000 out of pocket for us each month. Needless to say, this holiday season will be very tight for us. We’ve tried to prepare the kids, but they still believe in Santa Claus and don’t think our budget problems apply to the things they’ve asked him for. *sigh*
