We all know by now what a huge fan I am of jigsaw puzzles but Beleduc is a company that adds a scientific twist to their puzzles which help children understand the biological construction of both animals around them as well as their own bodies. Bedeluc’s Your Body puzzle is just one of their puzzles that caught my attention. The "Your Body" puzzle is available in "girl" or "boy" and comes as a five piece puzzle. Each of the puzzle pieces depicts a stage of your childs body from fully clothed, to naked, to muscle, to organs and to skeleton. This puzzle is great for teaching children about their own bodies as well as the differences between their bodies and the body of the opposite sex without

being too graphic or embarrassing for parents or children. Each five piece puzzle is made from wood making it sturdy, and measure 11.5" x 5.75" x 1" and weighing just over 1lb. These puzzles are recommended for children ages 3yrs+.
You can find the Beleduc Your Body – Boy/Girl 5-Layer Puzzle over at Amazon.com. I have not yet seen this brand of puzzle in any retail stores local to me.

Jigsaw puzzles are a great way to increase your childs dexterity and matching skills. Jigsaw puzzles are also a great way to expand your childs knowledge of the world around them when you purchase puzzles that contain images of the environment; however, sometimes children have a difficult time connecting with jigsaw puzzles that do not contain familiar information. The Make Your Own Jigsaw Puzzle by Melissa and Doug is a perfect way to encourage your child to do jigsaw puzzles by pushing them to design their own jigsaw puzzle! This set comes with two wooden jigsaw puzzles that are ready to be painted or colored, a set of markers,

stickers and paints for decorating the puzzle. This puzzle set also comes with a wooden carrying tray which keeps all the accessories and puzzle pieces in one place! The puzzle tray measures 7.75" x 7" and the puzzles themselves measure 5.5" x 4". This puzzle set is recommended for children ages 4yrs+.
You can find the Make Your Own Jigsaw Puzzle by Melissa and Doug over at Amazon.com. You can also find this one in select retail stores that carry Melissa and Doug puzzle products!

Jigsaw puzzles are a great toy for children of all ages; however, they are especially good tools for younger children because of the skill development they encourage. Younger children who haven’t quite grasped the dexterity that older children have are always greatly helped by using puzzles. Due to the smaller pieces and the finger dexterity needed to maneuver these pieces younger minds are forced to develop to accommodate the pieces in order to attain the goal of completing the puzzle. Since the Infantino Where’s My Tail Puzzle set is aimed at younger children the pieces of the puzzle are larger; however, the effect on development is

the same – dexterity is still needed to piece even larger pieces together! Another great aspect of the Infantino Where’s My Tail Puzzle is that these two piece puzzles encourage visual matching and thinking outside of an environment. By observing the half pieces of each animal your young child is forced to recollect seeing that animal and figure out how to reconstruct that image with the correct pieces. This set of puzzles is recommended for children from ages 1-3yrs.
You can find the Infantino Where’s My Tail Puzzle over at Amazon.com. I have seen similar puzzles at local retail stores; however, I have not seen this specific set.
