Today’s featured toy is a blast from the past for all of us and our parents as well. The ABC Block Cart has been a toy that has been featured in many households over goodness knows how long. The ABC Block Cart has been such a popular toy for such a long time because of the learning aspect as well as the appeal of a building toy to children combined with a pull cart! The ABC Block Cart by Melissa and Doug revisits this age old toy with a sturdy cart filled with 30 brightly colored wooden blocks painted with letters, pictures and numbers! The wooden blocks are solid wood, no hollow blocks as you often find in remakes of this classic toy! The blocks in

this set are chunky enough to allow little hands to get a good grip on them for spelling games or for building games! The ABC Block Cart is recommended for children ages 2yrs+. This set should be used with supervision; however, due to the pull cord on the wagon. While the pull cord is short enough that children have to bend down to pull it, it is still best used by younger aged children with supervision or you could simply cut the cord and allow children to use the cart as a push cart!
You can find the Melissa and Doug ABC Block Cart over at Amazon.com or keep your eye out for Melissa and Doug products at your local retail stores!

Today’s toy review is one for the older children out there and those with a love for all things military or electronic! The Eyeclops Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles are night vision goggles perfect for your little soldier! The Eyeclops Night Vision goggles come from the company "Eyeclops" known for making both educational and scientific toys for kids that make learning fun but the Night Vision goggles are one of the most impressive of their products. The goggles are powered by real infra-red driven night vision technology and enable clear visibility for up to 50 feet in complete darkness! These goggles make the perfect tool for camping kids too, enabling

them to see each other in pitch blackness. These goggles are also great for hide and seek in the dark! The goggles require 4 "AA" batteries that are not included with them and the goggles measure 10"L x 12"W x 7"H. The infrared goggles are recommended for children aged 6yrs+.
You can find the Eyeclops Vision Infrared Stealth Goggles over at Amazon.com, I have yet to see these in any store other than the chain of Discovery stores that recently closed for business.

I have mentioned before that food related toys make me nervous especially in households with younger children; however, they are unavoidable with most children in the early years of school coming as tea sets with cake, plush toys or as in this case educational toys. The only advisory I will give is that if you have a household with children young enough not to know better than to eat the toy PLEASE don’t purchase this one! The Smart Snacks toys are one of my favorite food based toys because they all promote education and the hide n’ peek chocolates are no different. The Smart Snacks Hide N’ Peek Chocolates is a set of two pieced chocolates that match together

|
as shapes. Each chocolate comes apart and will only fit with it’s partner piece, much like a matching game or a game of memory but the great part about these chocolates is that they’re colorful as well so children can not only work on memory and matching skills but they can also learn all about colors at the same time! This set is washable and includes 12 chocolates in a heartshaped box. These chocolates are recommended for children ages 3yrs+.
You can find the Smart Snacks Hide N’ Peek Chocolates over at Kazoo Toys.

Today I am breaking my rule of no big name brands once again because the importance of helping children learn to read is so unbelivably important. One of my favorite lines of products for helping children to learn to read is the Leapfrog line of toys. The Leapfrog Tag Reading System is one of the newer Leapfrog releases and instead of having to buy a larger computer system that books plug in to the Tag Reading System is smaller and more portable. Instead of buying the larger unit Leapfrog toys the Tag system allows you to buy one Tag pen and then all you need to buy are the books made especially for the Tag system. The Tag system works by having your

child follow the words in the Tag books with the Tag pen, the pen reads out aloud to your child by using a small camera in the pen tip to recognise the words in the book. The pen can also be used to help children when they read alone and get stuck on the more difficult words. The Tag System currently has around 20 different books which feature popular characters from hot kids movies! The Tag Reading System is recommended for children ages 4- 8 yrs; however, there really is no limit and it can prove a valuable tool to illiterate adults as well as children who are just learning to read English as a second language!
You can find the Leapfrog Tag Reading System at Amazon, or any of the larger retail toy stores! Leapfrog is a large name brand and you should be able to find it in almost any local toystore!
