Melissa and Doug Classic ABC Block Cart

Today’s featured toy is a blast from the past for all of us and our parents as well. The ABC Block Cart has been a toy that has been featured in many households over goodness knows how long. The ABC Block Cart has been such a popular toy for such a long time because of the learning aspect as well as the appeal of a building toy to children combined with a pull cart! The ABC Block Cart by Melissa and Doug revisits this age old toy with a sturdy cart filled with 30 brightly colored wooden blocks painted with letters, pictures and numbers! The wooden blocks are solid wood, no hollow blocks as you often find in remakes of this classic toy! The blocks in

this set are chunky enough to allow little hands to get a good grip on them for spelling games or for building games! The ABC Block Cart is recommended for children ages 2yrs+. This set should be used with supervision; however, due to the pull cord on the wagon. While the pull cord is short enough that children have to bend down to pull it, it is still best used by younger aged children with supervision or you could simply cut the cord and allow children to use the cart as a push cart!

You can find the Melissa and Doug ABC Block Cart over at Amazon.com or keep your eye out for Melissa and Doug products at your local retail stores!

    Fisher Price Smart Cycle

    Fisher-Price Smart Cycle

Today I break from the usual of bringing you unusual and new toys to bring something that’s been around for a little while but continues to amaze me. The Fisher-Price Smart Cycle is an amazing video gaming unit for younger children consisting of a "smart cycle" that hooks up to your television and uses unique software and games to teach your children more about the world around them as well as to give your child more exercise. The reason I absolutely love this toy is because it gets kids active instead of sitting them down in front of a gaming unit. The smart cycle system allows you child to customize their own bike as well as explore

different "themes". Different games for the Smart Cycle incorporate popular characters such as Sponge Bob and Dora the explorer to teach concepts such as letters, numbers, colors and shapes. The cycle comes with Learning Journey software; however, character based games are sold seperately for about $20 each. The Smart Cycle is recommended for children aged 3-6yrs and measures 9" x 16.9" x 35" and weighs 19.9lbs.

Because the Smart Cycle is made by Fisher Price you will be able to find it just about anywhere you go looking for it, Amazon and Walmart carry the Smart Cycle for $86.88, Target tacks on an extra $13.

      Smart Snacks Counting Cookies

      April 9th, 2008 by admin
      Smart Snacks Counting Cookies

Counting Cookies is an educational toy from Learning Resources. Counting Cookies is a learning to count toy consists of a hard plastic cookie jar, appropriately labeled "Cookies" and ten individual cookies. Each cookie in the set has a certain number of chocolate candy pieces on top (1-10) and the appropriate number written on the bottom of the cookie. These cookies are made of soft plastic and intended to teach even the youngest child to count by identifying how many pieces of candy are on top of the cookie. Each cookie measures two inches across and the jar measures 5.1" x 10.1" x 10.2" and weighs 1.1 lbs making it light enough to carry around.

This counting toy is recommended for children aged 36 months and up and is also a great toy for learning disabled children as well as special needs children. While some parents may get hung up on the cookie factor, I’m a firm believer in all things in moderation and don’t buy in to the Cookie Monster ban or any of that jazz. Learning Resources has some really amazing toys that connect with children on a level other learning toys don’t.

The entire product line from Learning Resources is available at Amazon.com including the counting cookies, Smart Snacks Rainbow Color Cones, Smart Snacks Hide ‘n’ Peek Chocolates, Smart Snacks Mix & Match Doughnuts, Smart Snacks Gingerbread Sort & Snap, Smart Snacks ABC Lacing Sweets, Smart Snacks Animal Crack-Ups, Smart Snacks Sorting Shapes Cupcakes, Smart Snacks Piece-A-Pizza Fractions, Learning Resources Sandwich Set and many many more.
