12” Raggedy Ann & Andy Box Set

12” Raggedy Ann & Andy Box Set

As a child I never was attracted to rag dolls, in fact dolls in general carry that stigma of being "creepy" for me; however, if I had to pick a doll that was the least fear inducing it would have to be Raggedy Ann or Raggedy Andy. The most famous ragdolls of all are now on sale together as a collectors set! Raggedy Ann was created in 1915 by John Gruelle and her brother Raggedy Andy was created five years later and they have both been favorites of kids everywhere ever since! These two adorable ragdolls make the perfect first dolls for children everywhere and they make the best gift for twins! Of course that isn’t to say that some grown ups out there wouldn’t get a kick

out of owning this gorgeous collector’s set of dolls too! This set comes with a 12" Raggedy Ann and a 12" Raggedy Andy as well as two certificates of authenticity so you know you’re not being sold a knock off ragdoll! This set is recommended for children ages 2yrs+ however until children hit that 2 yr mark they make great decor for the nursey when kept out of reach!

You can find the 12” Raggedy Ann & Andy Box Set over at BackToBasicsToys.com. I have seen Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy toys in other retail stores but I have never seen a collectors set of the two together elsewhere.

Gothic Rag Doll By Tragic Stitches

      August 15th, 2008 by admin
Gothic Rag Doll By Tragic Stitches

Once children get older they don’t always fall in love with the cute pink dolls with bows in their hair and they don’t always retain that cute attitude either! The Tragic Stitches dolls from ETSY.com are a great way to still be able to treat your "little girl" even when she’s a big girl who no longer loves pink frilly things and has fallen in to the Emo way of life and is wearing all black. The Tragic Stitches dolls are all handmade. The featured doll in the picture is Harriet. Harriet comes with a cute bunny (Peridot Rose) and she measures 18" tall. Harriet loves pink but not in a traditional girly way, she wears a pink skull ribbon in her hair and even has pink streaks in her hair too!

Harriet loves skulls and bats and creepy things like that! She has shooting stars on her face and a skirt with silver skulls and black lace on it. Harriet has a black cami top with lace straps and she wears black and white striped socks. All of the Tragic Stitches dolls are odd and individually designed, they are made from soft flannel and are hand stitched and stuffed. The dolls clothes are hand and machine made and can be removed.

You can pick your very own Tragic Stitches doll from the Tragic Stitches store on ETSY.com! You won’t be able to find these anywhere else because they are handmade!

        USA Made Rag Doll Kit

        June 6th, 2008 by admin
        Rag Doll Kit

First off I will apologise for the size of the picture on this one, I was unable to find a larger one but this toy was too hard to pass up! The USA Made Rag Doll Kit is the perfect gift for your little one and it’s extra special because they get to assist in making their own toy. Forget those $50 Build-A-Bears, your child can build their own rag doll for just $18! This original rag doll kit includes fabric for the doll, dress and apron, lace, yarn for hair, a sewing needle, thread, a pattern for the doll, stuffing for the doll and instructions for how to put the rag doll together! The rag doll kit also includes a story on the history of rag dolls so your child can learn a little somthing about the

origin of what they are doing! Once the doll is complete it will measure around 11 1/4" tall and the type of doll is referred to as a "pancake" style doll because it is flat on both sides. This is the easiest of rag dolls to make which makes it the perfect first ragdoll project for your child as well as for you to make! All pieces of this kit are made in the USA and although there is no recommended age range for this one since it involves a needle and thread I wouldn’t recommend it for any child under 7-8yrs. If you want to give your younger child the experience of building a rag doll you can always purchase this kit and while you make the doll have your child "oversee" the construction and watch their doll come to life!

I found the Ragdoll kit over at OurGreenHouse.com, an online store that carries all organically friendly products so you can rest assured that your child is safe with any of their toys!

          Big Ben the Gnome Doll

          May 18th, 2008 by admin
          Big Ben the Gnome Doll

I spend quite a bit of time researching new toys as well as looking at handmade toys on sites like ETSY.com where work at home moms make a living selling amazing crafty toys and childrens products. Today’s featured toy is one from ETSY.com made by Little Elf’s Toyshop. Little Elf’s Toyshp specializes in gorgeous ragdolls that can either be custom made or picked from existing dolls. The Big Ben Gnome Doll is the featured doll above and he is my favorite of all the existing dolls at Little Elf’s Toyshop. The Big Ben Gnome Doll is handcrafted, stuffed with 100% carded sheep’s wool and his body is made from 100% cotton velour fabric. Big Ben has a

matching hat on his head and brown mohair yarn hair poking from under his hat, he also has brown embroidered eyes and an embroidered mouth and rosy cheeks to give him a gorgeous glow. Ben’s skin is fair toned and made from 100% cotton knit fabric. Big Ben measures 10 inches tall from his feet to the top of his head (not hat) and he is double sewn to ensure quality. These dolls are absolutely perfect as gifts for old and young alike and the fact that they are customizable to make them look just like your child is perfect.

If you would like to order a custom gnome doll from Little Elf’s Toyshop you have to sign up to ETSY.com and contact Little Elf’s Toyshop with your custom request for your doll; however, if you would like to buy a doll that is already created you can browse the store stock here.
