Everyone remembers spinning tops from their childhood and to be honest I think that the revival of classic childhood toys is a wonderful thing. Children are getting too wrapped up in video games and forgetting to spend a little time growing up with non-electronic toys that help in education as well as development. The Chug-A-Long Train Top from Back to Basics Toys is a revival of the good old fashioned spinning top from years past with a fun twist that is sure to keep kids spinning that top! Inside the spinning top there is a colorful plastic train that circles the top with each spin! The track of the train is painted in with delicate landscaping put in as well, there is even a

crossing bar for the train to drive on through! This adorable spinning top also features a whistle blowing noise and the crossing bars raise and lower as the train goes by. This spinning top comes with 2 "AA" batteries and measures 9.5"h x 7.5"diam and is recommended for children ages 3yrs+.

You can find the Chug-A-Long Train Top over at BackToBasicsToys.com. I have found a variety of spinning tops in my local big name stores; however, I have yet to find this particular variety.

    Today’s featured toy is a blast from the past for all of us and our parents as well. The ABC Block Cart has been a toy that has been featured in many households over goodness knows how long. The ABC Block Cart has been such a popular toy for such a long time because of the learning aspect as well as the appeal of a building toy to children combined with a pull cart! The ABC Block Cart by Melissa and Doug revisits this age old toy with a sturdy cart filled with 30 brightly colored wooden blocks painted with letters, pictures and numbers!     this set are chunky enough to allow little hands to get a good grip on them for spelling games or for building games! The ABC Block Cart is recommended for children ages 2yrs+. This set should be used with supervision; however, due to the pull cord on the wagon. While the pull cord is short enough that children have to bend down to pull it, it is still best used by younger aged children with supervision or you could simply cut the cord and allow children to use the cart as a push cart!

The World’s Fair homage collection is a collection of adorable pieces of functional fair pieces. This particular piece is the Exquisite Carousel featuring lions and horses and various other animals in delicately painted metallic pastel colors. This carousel also moves round and round and has lights and music to boot! The carousel is made from durable plastic and has metal detailing all around it to give it that realistic appearance.         The ability for children to identify with other children and other people around them is sometimes isolated because of their ethnicity combined with geographical location. The issue of isolation in culture also plays in for children who are adopted outside of their native culture and this sometimes plays in to insecurities and problems identifying with peers.           Pooki the hand puppet

          If you have a child who LOVES Sesame Street and other children’s shows based on goofy puppets with crazy hair then you are going to love Pooki and friends from Inbalimor’s ETSY shop! Pooki is a sweet and funny hand puppet, his body is made from purple felt material and he has wonderful crazy feathered hair that flies away with a life of it’s own much like the puppets on those funny children’s shows. Pookie has thin foam mittens to give his body a little life and his eyes are made from safety doll eyes that have a safety feature on the back of them to prevent them from being opened and removed from Pooki. Pooki measures 9.05" long and

          3.94" wide; however, he does stretch because he is made from fleece! Pooki’s mouth is also made from a red velvet to give him a great open mouthed look. Pooki comes with a storage bag that is reusable so when he’s not in use he won’t collect dust or get snagged on other toys. Pooki is currently the only hand puppet available from Inbalimor’s ETSY store but keep an eye on this ETSY seller because Pooki is simply adorable and sure to be loved by kids everywhere!
