If you have ever read a book by Maya Angelou you will know what a talented and amazingly beautiful writer she is and now she presents "Amazing Peace: A Christmas Poem" for the whole family to enjoy over the Holiday season! This wonderful book comes in a hardcover edition for just over $12 and tells an amazing tale of humanity and the real spirit of the holiday season. While this book is definitely not one for the youngest members of the family as it contains language that would be hard for them to understand it does make a great holiday tradition for older members of the family. The recommended age on this story is for children ages 4yrs+ however with

wording such as “ANGELS AND Mortals, Believers and Nonbelievers, look heavenward,” it comes across as a book which is perhaps better suited to children ages 8yrs+. This beautifully illustrated book is told in poetry and makes a wonderful moment for the whole family to gather around.

There used to be a theory that boys should be raised with a knowledge of certain things as well as that girls should be raised with a knowledge of certain other things and while these ideas may be outdated the concept still comes in to play for children of today’s generation. Some boys still have the fortune of being in youth groups such as Boy Scouts that implement teaching of certain life skills; however, other boys are not as lucky and until now have missed out on some of these important lessons of independance. Inside this book you will find great stories of struggle, reminders of past events that have since been lost to an age of technology, simple but forgotten skills such as how to tie knots etc. The entire concept of this book is reteaching our sons of today about risk, history, fun and independance – four things which have become lost in our age of overprotective parenting and techological independance. The Letterland ABC brand is a brand exclusive to the UK as far as I am aware; however, their books and activities can be purchased in the US via stores like Amazon and auction sites such as Ebay. The reason I posted the Letterland books today even though they aren’t as readily accessible to the US market is because I truly believe in their power to teach young children to grasp letters and the sounds those letters make. In my home we used the Letterland books to teach my younger brothers to read and I have witnessed firsthand the amazing ability of these books to really connect with children and get them to focus on their letters by |

attaching letters to fun characters with individual personalities. The Letterland books are focussed around the letters of the alphabet, each one being a character such as "Annie the Apple" "Robber Red" "Clever Cat" etc. Each character makes use of alliteration in their name making them easy to remember as well as making use of the individual letter sounds. Each character is perfectly drawn to create a sweet faced individual that your child is sure to remember. The Letterland ABC book is just the beginning of the Letterland series and if you take a look around you will find many other helpful Letterland products such as workbooks, a nursery frieze and many other books that make use of the individual letters!
I found today’s Letterland book via Amazon.com; however, you may find other books by searching around online at sites such as Ebay or simply other websites that focus on products in the UK, it doesn’t take long nor much extra postage to ship a book overseas.
