All The Colors of the Earth by Sheila Hamanaka is an absolutely wonderful book to share with any family member but it is especially important to younger children who have not had the chance to experience other cultures or races or people. This book illustrated, with absolutely gorgeous pictures all of the diversity that peppers the world and a sampling of it’s individual ethnic heritages. The paintings in this book are worth the cost alone, the colorful whimsical illustrations are offset with the amazing lyrical wording of phrases throughout the book which really bring to life the diversity of the world. spotlight the earth but also the children in it which makes this book one that children can relate to and understand. The reading level on this book is baby through preschool so it is one that all children can understand; however it is also a pretty enough book that it can be read with older children and even thumbed through as a coffee table book. This book is a part of the Amazon.com buy three get the fourth free deal on children’s books so I recommend picking it up from them; however, you may be able to find it in your local store or even order it for free delivery to your local store if you prefer not to order online. |

This is a great book to teach kids about how diverse the world is becoming. I just read in an article a couple of days ago that it is expected by 2030, there will not be a dominant cultural group in the US because it will have become so diverse and fairly equal.
