Kidazy About Me

So Who Is Kidazy?

Excuse the lack of picture, I have seen the awful things that get photoshopped on to pictures that get posted online so I prefer to go with a Yahoo created likeness of myself instead! I am the owner and operator of Kidazy.com. My name is Amy, I am 26 years old (soon to be 27 boy does time fly!) and I live in North Carolina with my better half and our 6 year old black Labrador. Surprisingly to most I do not currently have any two legger kids of my own; however my Lab would have to disagree with me there since he is thoroughly convinced that his place is between his mom and dad at the dining table every single night with his own plate of food (don’t let him fool you, he doesn’t get his own plate…just what is left on ours). I am a Brit born and raised and made my move to the States when I was 12 years old so if you notice a European misspell here or there that would be the cause.

Kidazy came about from my previous job as a day care worker, I was always fascinated with the newest toys and gadgets that my kids would bring in to the center. Every day a new thingy-ma-jig would show up and entrance me with it’s hold over the kids in my care, whether it was the newest electronic gadget for the summertime teens or a simple learning toy for the younger toddlers, every single toy that passed my eyes intrigued me. After leaving my job as a day care worker and becoming a self employed webmaster I decided that i would begin a blog examining and rating toys for parents out there who were feeling overloaded and overwhelmed with all of the new things their children were crying out for after watching commercials for “the next great toy”.

Kidazy began as an extremely in depth toy review site, you can see these in depth  reviews in the “Archived Reviews” section located on the top menu of Kidazy. These reviews were written once a week and contained live video footage of me opening and reviewing toys and were followed with a custom rating scale and a loooooooong review of the pro’s and con’s of each toy reviewed. After months of writing my reviews in this style it occurred to me that my means were limited, because I was a new site just starting out, I did not have the advertising revenue to be able to purchase larger ticket items to review and consequently all of my reviews featured toys that ran from $5-$15 and not much more. The budget was just problem #1, after months of working with a custom designed layout of Kidazy.com I realized that things looked messy and disorganized, this is not me, I like my information to be laid out in a clean cut layout as I am certain busy parents who arrive at the site do as well, so the layout changed. Kidazy went from a disorganized mess to a clean cut design with easy access to all information. The new layout and format of the site include daily quick time reviews which feature toys that can’t be found just anywhere providing people of all ages new resources to track down gifting ideas for children of all ages for all budgets!

The new layout of Kidazy brought many changes but most importantly it revived the joy I had for toys in the beginning of the project. After months of the long winded reviews and video footage the enjoyment of toys was gone, I had become pigeon holed in to small budget toys which didn’t thrill me half as much as the whole gamit of  toys on the spectrum. By being able to feature toys without an actual hands on approach I have been able to enjoy my love of toys as well as present a wealth of daily updated information for all of my readers. Over time, I am certain that Kidazy will grow and change just as we all do; however, I hope you all continue to keep a love of toys alive in your household just as I have been able to through Kidazy!

Warm Wishes,

Amy
