Little Comics Stencils from Djeco

by admin on June 30, 2008 in Arts & Crafts

Little Comics Stencils from Djeco

As a child I remember loving arts and crafts time at school and my favorite thing to do was to use our classroom stencil bucket and create stencil drawings. The Little Comics Stencils from Djeco are really cute comic character stencils that kids are sure to enjoy. The set of comic stencils includes five colorful animals including a bunny, a bear, a crocodile, a cat and a chick! These stencils allow children to stencil these characters all on their own and decorate them as they wish. The stencils are recommended for children ages 3yrs and up and emasure 8"L x 8"W. These stencils are great for encouraging creative expression, cognitive / fine motor /

gross motor and sensory development as well as independant play! Djeco also carries other stencil sets as well including the princesses stencils, the horses stencils, the world stencils and farm animal stencils although my favorite is the comic stencil set because it’s much goofier than the other sets!

The Little Comics Stencils set is available from Amazon.com for just under $7, a great deal if you ask me! All of the stencil sets from Djeco can be found over at Amazon.com so if you’re looking for more than one set you’ll be able to combine your shipping costs.

With the Discovery Exclusive Remote Control Moon In My Room Contest winner drawing being a little over a week away I thought it time for an update and just a little info for you guys. The current comment count for this contest is 295 comments. Some of you will notice that some of your comments are not being approved and some are, the reason for this being that I feel a little cheated to have so many of you now only submitting two word comments. I understand that being a parent leads to a very busy life; however, I also feel that if i’m putting up the prizes (they are paid for out of my pocket, they are not donated prizes unless they are noted as such) I need a little effort to go in to comments so two word repetitive comments are no longer being approved. That aside, the winner will be announced on July 8th. Good luck everyone!

Eggling - Flower - Petunia

Science is always a huge hit with young kids, the ability to create new things and watch reactions taking place are simply amazing for younger children. Eggling’s allow children to take part in the process of creating life! Egglings are eggs that act as a holding place for the seeds from your particular eggling plant. Upon receipt of the eggling egg all your child has to do is tap the egg to make a small hole in the top so the seeds can be placed inside. Once the seeds are placed inside they have to be watered and placed in sunlight and your child can watch the creation of plant life! The egg already has enough nutrients inside for the plant to grow for 5 months before it

needs to be transplanted to another plant pot. The eggs are handmade in Japan and the egg itself is made from porous ceramic. The ceramic egg is 2.5" high and the tray is 2.75" in diameter. Egglings come in a wide variety of plant life including mint, prickly cactus, basil, chrysanthemum, petunia, phlox, spicy red pepper, lavender, wild strawberry, and thyme.

Egglings are available at many different online retailers and are selectively available in local retail stores, I found these over at Amazon for just under $10 each.

Stacking Animals Game from Haba

Stacking Animals Game from Haba

Blocks and building toys are always a big hit with both little boys and girls but the problem with blocks is that there are few ways to recreate blocks and make them in to something new and different. Haba has come up with stacking animals to replace those traditional square blocks and they have really brought something new to the table. These great wooden animals consist of penguins, snakes, sheep, monkeys, alligators and more! These colorful stacking animals are not only great for building and stacking but they are also helpful in learning colors and animals and they’re perfect for little hands! These blocks actually come as part of a

stacking pyramid game; however they are also great when used as just building toys! The stacking game is recommended for 2-4 players and from ages 4yrs and up because of the size of some of the smaller pieces. This fun game designed by Klaus Miltenberger contains 29 wooden animals, on dice and a set of instructions on how to play the game!

The stacking animals game from Haba is available from OOmpa.com for just under $18. I haven’t been able to find this one anywhere else as of yet; although I have located a few knock offs at various online retailers.
